December • Lake, Pond & Dam Improvements, as well as Keeping our Indian Lake Holidy Traditions A

Hello ILCC Members & Residents:

As I write this message, the rain from last night has dumped a lot of water in what was a pretty well-drained lake. It is a constant struggle trying to keep up with Mother Nature, and I want to thank Dan Sforza for working the gates and keeping the water at a level that allows us to make repairs to our docks or do whatever it is we need to do. As a reminder, we will be closing the gates, and allowing the water level to rise beginning on December 10th (originally scheduled for the 1st), so please plan accordingly. I also wanted to let everyone know that the required work to the East Shore dam has been completed.

I want to thank all the volunteers who helped us in what seemed like a never ending battle in keeping the pond water level down to a point where the masons could work. Special thanks goes out to the Denville Fire Department who worked their pumper truck to assist in the draining, and also allowing us to use their siphons, which ran 24/7 to keep up with the inflow of water. Also, I would like to thank all the members and pond residents who helped us keep our pump running every day. Keeping that pump gassed up was a constant job and I want to thank John Donahue in particular for making sure the gas cans were filled at all times.

Now that we are in the holiday season, we have many events coming up. The lineup includes the Women’s Club Wreath sale, the Men’s Club Tree sale, Breakfast with Santa and the annual Holiday Cocktail party. These are always great events and I hope you come out and enjoy them with your ILCC friends.

Have a Safe and Happy New Year!

Bob Covello
