WORK WEEKEND DETAILS — SATURDAY & SUNDAY
We’ll be working across the lake properties approximately 10:00am - 4:00pm both days. Coolers of water will be available, and the Women’s Club will have drinks, bagels, and fruit for volunteers.
Tools and yard‑waste bags will be provided — but here’s what you can bring to make the work go smoothly.
SAFETY FIRST
Required for anyone using power equipment:
-
Safety glasses
-
Ear plugs (for gas‑powered tools like weed whackers, rototillers, hedge trimmers)
Recommended for everyone:
-
Gloves (we have extras)
-
Sunscreen
HELPFUL ITEMS TO BRING (if you have them)
(Not everyone needs to bring these — just if available)
-
Wheelbarrows
-
Weed whackers
-
Hedge trimmers (for bushes)
-
Garden/hand tools (small shovels for digging weeds or planting)
-
Rakes
-
Knee pads
SPECIAL REQUEST: TRUCK VOLUNTEER
We need someone with a truck to pick up yard‑waste bags from beaches/landings and bring them to the clubhouse dumpster.
PRIORITY PROJECT #1 — WEEDING THE BEACHES
This is the first and most urgent task.
-
All beaches must be cleared of weeds before the rototiller arrives Friday afternoon.
-
Weeds must be pulled or dug out by the roots to prevent regrowth.
-
Many hands will make this go quickly.
ROTOTILLING TEAMS NEEDED
We need volunteers familiar with lawnmowers or similar equipment.
-
Teams of two are ideal so you can switch off.
-
Start time: 10 AM Saturday at Franklin (Baby Beach)
-
After Franklin, the rototiller will move to Dive/Main Beach, then the Clubhouse Beach.
-
A truck is needed to move the rototiller between locations.
-
Please let us know if you can help with this.
POWER TOOL OPERATORS (EXPERIENCED ONLY)
All bushes around the clubhouse need trimming, including:
-
The long hedge row along the clubhouse parking lot
-
The bushes along the road by the basketball court
-
Areas requiring a ladder — please use extreme caution
All trimmings must be raked, picked up, and placed in the dumpster.
PRIORITY PROJECT #2 — LANDSCAPE BEDS
We need to clear all weeds from the landscaped areas around the clubhouse, including the three beds at the parking‑lot entrance.
-
These must be weed‑free before mulch arrives Sunday, June 7
-
Again, weeds must be pulled or dug out completely (roots included)
NEIGHBORHOOD LANDINGS
Volunteers can also tidy the landings near their homes:
-
Weed whack
-
Mow
-
Remove downed branches
-
Trim overgrowth
Monkey Island:
-
May need mowing/weed whacking
-
Some cut logs can be removed
-
A boat is required to access the island
PAINTERS WANTED (Adults or supervised teens 14+)
We want to give the clubhouse gazebo a fresh coat of paint before Hub Lakes and several upcoming weddings.
-
This is a detailed job with lots of spindles and low‑to‑the‑ground work
-
We provide all supplies: paint, rollers, brushes, trays, gloves, drop cloths
-
Please take care not to get paint on the concrete or surrounding areas
OPTIONAL PROJECT — POWER WASHING
If someone has a power washer and would like to clean the concrete wall at Dive/Main Beach:
-
Hoses are available in the clubhouse garage
-
Goal: remove moss/mildew/grime without stripping the paint on top
SKILLED LABOR NEEDED (Flexible timing)
At Franklin Beach:
-
The back door of the restroom building needs replacement
-
Some siding on the Guard Shack needs repair
-
If you can stop by Saturday or Sunday to assess the work, we’d appreciate it.
SUNDAY, JUNE 7 — MULCH DAY
Mulch will be delivered Sunday. We’ll need help spreading it:
-
Around the clubhouse playground
-
All landscaped areas
-
Baby/Franklin Beach
PHOTOGRAPHER NEEDED
We’d love someone to capture volunteers in action on both days.
-
You don’t need to stay all day
-
You’ll move around the lake to photograph different projects
-
Great role for someone who prefers lighter physical activity
