December • So you ask how is the ILCC doing? I'm Glad You Asked ...

December 2017 - President's Message:

Greetings ILCC Members and Indian Lake residents!

As I write to you, many have begun their holiday shopping and typically I would say it’s getting colder … this year I can’t say that, we’ve been very lucky. As we prepare for the holidays and the winter season finally arrives, I’m reminded that this place called Indian Lake holds its beauty through the seasons, whether the turning of the leaves, the snow begins to fall or a bold sun breaks through the clouds, this place we call home is truly beautiful. Take the time to enjoy it!

So you ask how is the ILCC doing?

I’m glad you asked … the club is in a good financial position thanks to the 600 or so dues paying members and about 200 non-members paying their fair share upkeep. Thank you for supporting the club and environment that surrounds you. The dues and upkeep you pay allow us to care for the lake, land and structures. With that said the Board continues to evaluate the condition of the clubhouse and the potential to rebuild it and I’m happy to say that while we will face challenges, the DEP won’t be one of them. After a recent meeting with the DEP, it became clear that the clubhouse rebuild will be a conforming structure which means the hurdles and permits associated with DEP approval will be minimal. Now this doesn’t mean we are moving forward, but it was a significant concern. We will still need to speak with the town and evaluate the financial plan that would enable the rebuild. I will keep you informed as we continue to evaluate over the next several months.

December brings great opportunities to get involved with the Club. Let’s run through the lineup … get a Christmas tree from the Men’s Club (12/2-3), Holiday Cocktail Party (12/2) and Breakfast with Santa (12/10) and hopefully you got your Holiday Wreath from the Women’s Club by late November. Oh and only 5 or so regular season NFL games remaining! Go Black & Gold! Last, throughout December stop and take in the beauty that surrounds you!

From the Gavins to you and yours … we wish you all … Joyeux Noël, Froehliche Weihnachten, Haid joule ja head uut aastat, Kung His Hsin Nien bing Chu Shen Tan, Kellemes Karacsonyi unnepeket, kurisumasu omedeto, Nollaig Shona Dhuit, Feliz Navidad, Sung Tan Chuk Ha, Buone Feste Natalizie, Shub Naya Baras, Pozdrevlyayu s prazdnikom Rozhdestva s Novim Godom, Mo'adim Lesimkha. Chena tova!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Mike Gavin

ILCC President
